About Cassandra Sanders

Cassandra Sanders is a playwright, producer, content creator and screenwriter. She is the mother of four. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She has one brother and no sisters. Her mother was a single parent. With the help of her grandmother and aunt, she never wanted for anything. Her father divorced her mother at the age of three and he did not want any part of their lives.  Cassandra was a little different as a child. She was always thinking of ways to be creative. She used to sit in her bedroom all day and write poetry. She written her very first stage play at the age of 11 for her church, Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church called “Hallelujah.” She always loved to watch people. She pays attention to detail. She attended Edward Tilden High School. She made the honor roll. After graduating from high school in 1982, she decided to make California her home.

Cassandra worked for Los Angeles Pierce College and Los Angeles Mission College. She had three different positions, Bookstore Assistant, Admission and Records Assistant and Custodian. Cassandra also attended Mission College and graduated in 2012 with her AA Degree in Office Administration with a 4.0 GPA. She made the Dean’s List.  She took an early retirement in 2018. She decided to pursuit her dream as a playwright.  Her passion is writing stage plays. She is a huge fan of Tyler Perry.   

So far, Cassandra has written 3 successful stage plays. “In the Blink of an Eye” was her first professional play where she teamed up with Director/Actor Obba Babatunda. This play sold out every single night. “Live and Let Live” was her second stage play. She turned to her good friend Erik Kilpatrick to be her director. Her third play was “NEIGHBORS”. Directed by John Toles-Bey.

When she is not writing, Cassandra loves to just walk on the beach. She loves the sound of the water and admire the beautiful sky. This is how she clears her head and come up with better stories to write about. She also loves spending quality time with her grandbabies.

Cassandra had a lot of people that believed in her writing and encourage her to keep going and never give up. Her #1 fan is her mother and her Aunt Doris.
